The CRUI is an organization comprised of rectors from Italian national universities, established in 1963, and it conducts various initiatives related to Italian universities and society. Ambassador Vattani was accompanied by Marco Prencipe, the Consul General of Italy in Osaka, as our university is in cooperation with the Italy Pavilion exhibition. The key members of the CRUI delegation are as follows:

  • Prof. Giovanna Iannantuoni, Rector of the University of Milano-Bicocca, CRUI President
  • Prof. Francesco Priolo, Rector of the University of Catania, CRUI Vice-President, CRUI Delegate for Research

  • Prof. Maria Luce Frezzotti, Dean of the Graduate School, University of Milano-Bicocca
  • Ms. Emanuela Stefani, CRUI Secretary General

The delegation visited Japan to promote cooperation between Italy and Japan and to observe the rapidly growing education, research, and medical care provided by our university. On behalf of our university, President Tatsuo Kinashi, Director of the Center for Global Engagement Koichi Tomoda, Director of KMU Hospital Tadashi Matsuda, Distinguished professor appointed by the University President Giuseppi Pezzotti, and Director of Education Graduate School of Medicine Hirofumi Hitomi attended the event. After introducing our university, the CRUI, Italian universities as well as the Italy Pavilion, the delegation toured our facilities in the Faculty of Medicine building, including the Medical Simulation Center, Near InfraRed Photo-ImmunoTherapy Research Institute, Central Research Institute, as well as KMU Hospital’s Outpatient Department, Cancer Center, Palliative Care Center, and Rehabilitation Center. A welcome dinner was then held at the KMU Tower.

On the occasion with this visit, a signing ceremony for the comprehensive academic collaboration agreement between our university and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice was held. Rector Lippiello and President Kinashi signed the agreement. Rector Lippiello expressed deep empathy for our university’s mission to train healthcare professionals who not only provide advanced medical care but also offer comfort, reassurance, and healing by staying close to their patients. During an earlier visit to Ca’ Foscari Univ of Venice in early May, President Kinashi, Director Tomoda, and Prof. Hitomi discussed collaborations with the university’s science and engineering departments and San Camillo Hospital, which led to the signing of the agreement. Ca’ Foscari University of Venice is now our second partner university in Italy, following the Politechnico di Tolino.

This visit is expected to further enhance cooperation with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and other prestigious Italian universities, as well as collaboration towards the Italy Pavilion.
