Four Departments of the Center for Global Engagement

International Exchange and Education Department

Fostering medical professionals with an international perspective by sending students overseas and accepting international students

The Overseas Clinical Training Program, aimed at learning about international standards of medical care

Kansai Medical University (KMU) collaborates with partner universities in the U.S., the UK, Germany, and other countries to offer a variety of study abroad opportunities. In addition to experiencing world-class medical settings, students can gain experience of different cultures and new environments, broadening their international perspectives and developing their professional skills. Moreover, in the Overseas Clinical Training Program, we provide substantial support for travel and accommodation expenses.

Developing human resources who will serve as a bridge of medical care between Japan and the world

We accept international students (short-term students) from the medical schools of overseas partner universities. We also accept students who wish to pursue medical research in Japan into the Graduate School of Medicine (Doctoral Program). For international students, we provide comprehensive living support and financial support to help them focus on their studies.

International Postgraduate Program

■Tuition fee exemption / Scholarship provision / Free provision of accommodation
■The only private medical university in Japan selected for the Special Program for Priority Placement of Government-sponsored International Students

The purpose of this program is to train leaders who can contribute to medicine and healthcare between Japan and other countries. International students are expected not only to conduct their own research but also to actively participate in various activities in the local community, including cultural activities, in order to further broaden their knowledge. After returning to their home countries, they are expected to directly or indirectly contribute to the improvement of relations between Japan and other countries through the highly specialized fields of medicine and healthcare or their private activities.

To enable international students to focus on their research, we have a comprehensive support system in place, including tuition fee exemption, scholarship provision, and free provision of accommodation. We also offer a Japanese language learning program, a Japanese culture experience program, and other programs, in an effort to help international students deepen their understanding of Japan.

International Research Department

Promoting innovative research leading to joint international research, industry-academia collaboration, and intellectual property creation

The International Research Department promotes joint research, the utilization of research results, and intellectual property creation, with the aim of creating global innovation through collaboration with overseas research institutions. Kansai Medical University and Politecnico di Torino are collaborating on research initiatives and also offer a course where students can obtain a double degree in doctoral program.

We will continue to improve our research integrity system and contribute to the revitalization of joint international research at the university.

International Public Relations Department

Proactive and strategic international public relations activities that contribute to enhancing the global reputation of KMU

The International Public Relations Department widely collects and disseminates information related to academic study, education, research, and medical care to manage KMU’s global reputation.
In the future, with a view to strengthening the dissemination of research achievements to the world, we plan to promote the distribution of English press releases to overseas countries on impactful research results by faculty affiliated with the university.
