On Monday, April 21, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Academic and Educational Cooperation between our university and the University of Bern (Switzerland) was signed during the event “Augmented Farming: NexGen Innovations for Food Security,” held at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Osaka (Kita-ku, Osaka City).
Founded in 1834, the University of Bern is a public university in Switzerland with eight faculties, including medicine and law, and has produced five Nobel Prize laureates to date. Previously, on Friday, July 5th, 2024, KMU had already established an MOU with the Center for Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine of the University Hospital of Bern for education and research in cardiovascular disease prevention, rehabilitation, and health promotion. This recent MOU marks an expansion to a university-wide partnership.
Following this, on Wednesday, April 23, Rector Virginia Richter of the University of Bern and her delegation visited the Hirakata Campus. From KMU, attendees included President Tatsuo Kinashi, Dr. Koichi Tomoda (Director, Center for Global Engagement), Professor Yutaka Kimura (Distinguished Professor appointed by the Chairman of the Board, Health Sciences Center, KMU Hospital), Professor Kotaro Yamakado (Center Professor, Sports Medicine Center, KMU Hospital), and Dr. Kenichi Oe (Associate Professor, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine). Both universities introduced their institutions and exchanged information.
They also visited the KMU Near-Infrared Photoimmunotherapy Research Institute and the Health Science Center at KMU Hospital.
